We celebrate the completed house with a day trip to Cambodia’s most sacred mountain & fresh waterfall. Then dance the night away with one final party in town at infamous ‘Pub St’.

Leave the brown plains of the north for the shimmering turquoise water, white sandy beaches and remote oasis of Koh Rong. Swim, snorkel, explore or simply laze about at Otres beach in Sihanoukville. Take a pitstop in the sleepy town of Kampot and embark on a one of a kind rock-climbing and caving experience.

This Adventure packages Cambodia’s must see sights and an important community project into 14 well-paced nights designed to take you off the beaten path & into its unexplored depths.
MyGapYear arrange all accommodation, transport & general trip logistics so you can concentrate on enjoying the adventure of a lifetime.

Your Adventure Leader will dedicate a full day to explore what thousands of people travel halfway across the world for every year, the UNESCO World Heritage Angkor Archaeological Park. This ‘Small Circle Tour’ will take you through some of Cambodia’s most stunning & religiously important temples including Bayon Temple & the now infamous Ta Prohm (Thanks to Tomb Raider) which sets an eerie backdrop as trees intertwine with thousand year old stone architecture. We finish up the day with the big one, Angkor Wat. No amount of photos could ever do this magnificent structure any justice and we are yet to meet a fellow Adventurer who hasn’t been amazed by this thousand year old architectural masterpiece.

After dinner spend time exploring the bustling souvenir markets.

Of course no visit to Siem Reap is complete without a journey to notorious ‘Pub Street’. Welcome to paradise! Located two and a half hours by boat from Sihanoukville, Koh Rong is truly stunning, with picture-perfect white sand beaches and placid aquamarine surf. The 78-square-kilometre island, provides scuba diving, snorkelling and jungle trekking opportunities for those Adventurous enough.

Koh Rong is island life as it’s meant to be, primitive, remote & stunningly beautiful. We’re talking cold showers, no paved roads, zero ATM’s & sparse electricity. This is one of the few places left on the globe where you can find your own space of beach & disconnect yourself from the rest of the world.

No plans here, just lay back, drink a cocktail & enjoy your accommodation at the beachside bungalows.

Late at night, conditions permitting, travellers can swim out to the water & catch a glimpse of the incandescent plankton as it shines bright through the water like magic. An unforgettable experience!

Notes:

  • Accommodation: Beach Bungalow
  • Highlights: Incandescent Plankton, Beach BBQ & Beach Party

Today is a free day to laze about the beach, explore the island, play volleyball or simply read a book in a hammock. In the afternoon the group will embark on a jungle trek that finishes on a remote beach; one of the most beautiful in SE-Asia. Catch a fishing boat around the island at sunset before joining the rest of the island in their nightly celebrations.

Notes:

  • Accommodation: Beach Bungalow
  • Highlights: Beach Activities, Free Time, Jungle Trek & Sunset Cruise

Last chance for an island swim before heading back to the main land and another night in ultra party town Sihanoukville.

Notes:

  • Accommodation: Guesthouse

Today we leave the beach and take a 2-hour bus ride to Kampot. A sleepy riverside town famed for its ability to capture the hearts of travellers & keep them longer than expected.

Here you can walk the streets of this quiet town, go tubing through river rapids, swim about in the remarkably clean river & embark on mountain treks.

Notes:

  • Accommodation: Riverside Bungalows

Embark on a half day caving & rock climbing experience (Included). Climb to the top of limestone cliffs before a 30-meter abseil through a chasm in one of Cambodia’s most beautiful caving systems. Then crouch, crawl & climb through the rest of the natural cave. Delving deeper & deeper underground.

For dinner eat what’s been dubbed the “Best Pork Ribs in All of Asia”. You can even try the Dino Challenge & get your picture on the wall. Provided you can eat 1.5kgs of meat…

Notes:

  • Accommodation: Riverside Bungalows
  • Highlights: Climbodia

Arrive in Cambodia’s capital city via bus. After checking in to our new accommodation we hop on a pushbike & explore the chaos of Phnom Penh, including a visit to the royal palace. At night explore the souvenir markets & try some local food delicacies.

Notes:

  • Accommodation: Hotel

Essential to any visit in Phnom Penh is a tour of S21 & the Killing Fields. As your Adventure Leader takes you on a guided tour of these sombre locations you will gain insight into the terrible atrocities the people of Cambodia have endured. A local tour guide will explain the history of the Pol Pot regime & give a sad, but true account of the lives lost during this terrible time.

Our last dinner together is at Dine in the Dark, where you are served & eat your meal in total darkness. Finishing up with a night in town as a final celebratory send off.
