Sustainable travel is at the core of our operational model & is an important criterion for all our Adventures. We at MyGapYear have also taken steps to ensure we incorporate sustainable tourism into every aspect of our operations. Below is some of the ways we are contributing to our planet.

Social Enterprise

More than a travel company, MyGapYear is a Social Enterprise. We partner forward-thinking travelers with unique Adventures designed to give back to the communities in which we operate. At the forefront of a global movement towards sustainable tourism, we reinvest profits from all of our Adventures back in to many of our charitable initiatives. When you travel with us, you’re giving back to the communities that have so graciously hosted you. How’s that for smart travel!

MyGapYear Foundation

Established in 2012, MyGapYear Foundation is our non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring the communities touched by tourism benefit from the opportunities it provides. MyGapYear Foundation works directly with MyGapYear Travel to create sustainable initiatives designed to empower, educate and improve the lives of communities & families in underdeveloped countries.

Local Investment

We reinvest much of our resources back into the community & the local economy. Wherever possible we use local suppliers, tour operators, in-country transport operators & accommodation providers. This ensures that your money filters directly into the local businesses, families & communities of the countries we work in.

Volunteering

Contributing to sustainable development is a critical element in every one of our Volunteer Adventures. Our Volunteer Adventures are personally inspected and assessed to ensure that they directly benefit the project itself, but also the local community & environment as a whole. As part of our selection process every Volunteer Adventure must meet three strict requirements to ensure they align with My Gap Year’s philosophies.
